To learn about Levels 1-250, please checkout out Part 1 of our World of Warcraft Mining Guide.

Level 250-300

To complete your leveling up to 300 before you head to Outland, you will want to start farming on Thorium veins which become available at Level 250. Additionally, you can find Dark Iron in zones like the Burning Steppes. For Thorium look for veins in Un’Goro Crater, the Plaguelands and Winterspring.

Level 300-325

At Level 300, you need to train as a Master miner and head to Outland where you can start farming for Fel Iron in Hellfire Peninsula. The zone is large and the ore is hard to find at times, but you will usually find plenty of it along the ridges in the south and in the path leading to the Ramparts.

Level 325-365

At Level 325, you can upgrade to Adamantite which you will continue to farm all the way up to Level 375. Adamantite is found throughout Outland, but is most abundant in Nagrand where you can find Fel Iron as well along with Rich Adamantite Veins.

Level 365-375

Before you reach Level 375, you can start farming for Khorium which will allow you to quickly reach Level 375. This rare ore shows up in the place of Rich Adamantite veins in Blade’s Edge Mountains and Nagrand. Alternately you can skip to the next section and start farming Cobalt ore in Northrend early.

Level 375-450

The final section of leveling is in Northrend, where you will start out by training as a Grand Master in your starting town. You can then start farming for Cobalt ore in Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. The mountains of Howling Fjord are best for this, but Borean Tundra has plenty as well.

When you reach Level 400, head to Sholazar Basin and start farming on Saronite which is located all the way around the zone, as well as round the pillars in the middle of the zone (there are 6 of them). You should be able to reach 450 here alone, though you can also find Titanium nodes and Rich Saronite nodes in Icecrown Glacier and Storm Peaks.

WoW Mining Guide – Making Gold

Once you reach Level 450, the best ores to farm regularly are Titanium and any of the rare ores from earlier in the game. Titanium in particular is highly valuable because it is used for Titansteel and for prospecting epic gems. A stack of Titanium Ore can sell for up to 200 gold. You may find that you need to fight a bit for it though as there are a lot of people farming for it at any given time. Just continue your Saronite searching (Titanium appears on Saronite nodes) in Icecrown and Storm Peaks and you will find plenty.

Alternate routes with less crowding include heading to Azeroth and farming off of Silver and Truesilver, both ores used for low level enchants and leveling up professions like Engineering and Blacksmithing. You will find that these ores still sell for as much, if not more than many higher level ores in Northrend.

For anyone interested in mining, it is a quick and relatively painless grind to 450, followed by a number of great ways to make gold. As every good WoW mining guide will tell you – this is the best profession in the game.

You will find that many World of Warcraft mining guides focus on this intensively. The World of Warcraft mining guide below will help you focus on leveling up your mining skill as fast as possible. It will also focus on which ores are most profitable in the game.

Skill Levels and Ores Available.

Below is a complete list of ores in the game and the skill level you need to mine each of them:

*          Copper Ore – 1
*          Tin Ore – 65
*          Silver Ore – 75
*          Iron Ore – 125
*          Gold Ore – 155
*          Mithril Ore – 175
*          Truesilver Ore – 230
*          Dark Iron Ore – 250
*          Small Thorium Deposits – 275
*          Fel Iron Deposits – 300
*          Adamantite Veins – 325
*          Rich Adamantite Veins – 350
*          Cobalt Nodes – 350
*          Khorium Veins – 375
*          Rich Cobalt Nodes – 375
*          Saronite Nodes – 400
*          Rich Saronite Nodes – 425
*          Titanium Nodes – 450

World of Warcraft Mining Guide – Leveling Process

The leveling process for Mining will be slightly different depending on your starting race and faction. Here are some basic tips for finding Copper and Tin early in the game, followed by the ores leading throughout Azeroth:

Level 1-65

The first ore in the game is Copper, which you will mine until Level 65. Horde characters should focus on Durotar, Mulgore, and Tirisfal Glades while Alliance characters will have the best luck farming for Copper in Elwynn Forest and Darkshore. Stay near the mountainous regions for the most effective mining locations.

Level 65-125

At Level 65, you will need to switch to Mining Tin because Copper Ore will turn Grey and stop giving you skill ups. This means you should head to Redridge Mountains for Alliance (if you are level 18). You can also find Tin in Westfall and Loch Modan, though it is mixed in with quite a bit of Copper. For Horde characters, the best option is the Barrens. There are a few smaller areas that have Tin, but the Barrens is easiest and quickest.

At level 75, make sure to get your Journeyman Skill and learn to mine silver. Silver is hard to use for leveling because it is a rare ore, but you can find it in zones like Thousand Needles and the Barrens (Horde characters have it a bit better here).

Level 125-175

At Level 125, you will be able to start farming for Iron, which is found in Desolace, The Badlands, and Arathi Highlands. At Level 150, you should train as an Expert and learn how to farm for Gold, another rare ore at level 155. You can find Gold in the zones listed above, alongside your Iron Ore. The best location for Gold and Iron is in the top northeast corner of Arathi Highlands where a Kobold cave will yield solid returns and respawn quickly.

Level 175-250

At Level 175, you should start mining Mithril and then at Level 200, make sure to learn how to farm Truesilver, the third rare ore in Azeroth. The best locations for these two ores are in Searing Gorge, Azshara and Tanaris.

Tanaris is among the best because you can just do a simple loop around the entire zone and the competition is minimal. If you still need to gain XP while you are mining, you may find that the loop in Azshara, on the northern peninsula is far better. Make sure to get your Artisan training completed at Level 225.

You’ve reached the end of Part 1 of our World of Warcraft Mining Guide. For Part 2, where you’ll learn how to advance your skill from 250-450 see: WoW Mining Guide.

• No Gear Upgrades – Because you will be completing only quests, you will likely find that your characters get all the gear they need as you go forward. Until you reach Level 80, there is no reason to buy any gear.
• Get Your Mounts – Players can now get a land mount at Level 20 and then 40. Make sure that you have the 6 gold needed to get your Level 20 mount and then when you hit Level 40. This can dramatically boost your leveling speed by making it easier to get around.
• Always Log Out in a Town – Whenever you log out at the end of the day, I recommend you hearth back to your nearest town and log out in the inn. Not only will this make it so you can get whatever supplies you need when you log-in the next day, while also not having to spend much time worrying about running back, but you will gain rested XP for a small period of time when you login next. Sometimes, it only lasts a few minutes, but it is a 200% boost on your XP gain that will add up over the course of the game.

Questing

In addition to having your character streamlined to minimize mindless errands, you should never complete anything but quests. Any good WoW leveling guide will tell you this over and over again and they are right. For most of the game, finding these quests and completing them is relatively easy though.

For instance, most quests are centralized. You will go to a town or a camp and find between 2 and 6 NPCs who hand out quests. Grab all of those quests and then complete them all at once. When done, turn the quests in together and get the next set to move on to higher levels. Not only do you get tremendous amounts of bonus XP from completing quests, you get the XP you gain from killing mobs in those quests.

Add-ons To Install

The last thing I can recommend to severely reduce time spent in the game on quests is a handful of add-ons and mods that make your gameplay a bit easier. These add-ons are completely legal to use and are easy to install. They also run smoothly in the game and have been tested extensively.

• Cartographer/Tom-Tom – There are a few map-mod add-ons that will add enhanced navigation to your mini-map and main map. Things like coordinates on the main screen and major quest hubs can be marked this way. They also unlock entire maps before you explore them so you don’t get lost.
• Quest Helper – This mod will add an additional bit of information for each quest you get, telling you where to go and what needs to be done (since some quests are confusing). With your map mod, this will make it easy to find just about anything.
• TitanPanel – This mod will add a simple pane across the top of your window that shows you vital information about your character and current status including bag slots, XP needed to level up, gold count and more.

These three mods will all help you make your game a bit faster and easier to navigate, ultimately speeding up your leveling time exponentially.

With the tips in this WoW leveling guide, you should be heads and tails above most other beginning players in the game. For many, this will be plenty to help get you to level 80 in good time.

While many of them work wonders, the truth is that you’re going to find leveling in World of Warcraft is much more dependent on a few key styles of gameplay, that when put together in the right order can greatly speed up your leveling speed naturally. A good World of Warcraft leveling guide should start out by telling you all of these important tips, boosting your speed and making your leveling process much easier.

Gameplay Tips

To start with, your character is going to level at a different speed depending on what class you are. Of course, you’re not going to create a Hunter or Warlock just because a World of Warcraft leveling guide tells you they level up the fastest, but if your sole goal is to have a Level 80 character, these classes are the fastest way to get there due to their very low downtime.

Other classes can be sped up as well though by selecting the right talents – ones that focus on reducing downtime and boosting DPS in battle. For example, while a Mage is notoriously hard to level because of their downtime early in the game, you will find that if you focus on Fire and Arcane talents for the first 15-20 levels, the DPS you start to put out will make up for the time you spend restoring mana and resting. Here are other good specs for leveling with each character class:

•    Druid – Feral
•    Hunter – Beastmaster
•    Mage – Arcane/Fire
•    Paladin – Retribution
•    Priest – Shadow
•    Rogue – Combat
•    Shaman – Enhancement
•    Warlock – Demonology/Affliction
•    Warrior – Arms/Fury

In addition to choosing the right talent points and using them immediately (use a talent point every time you reach a new level, starting at Level 10), you can save yourself substantial amounts of time by cutting out time you spend at vendors or in cities. Ideally, you should never be in a major city except when you complete a quest. Here are some tips to help make this possible:

• Have a Mule Character – Create a Level 1 character that will wait by the mailbox and auction house in your major city. Whenever you have items to sell, send them there. You will make enough gold this way to cover your talent points and upgrades without having to do any farming or profession grinding.
• Upgrade Your Bags – The more bagspace you have, the less often you have to stop and unload them or fill up on supplies. In addition to having at least 60 bag slots, make sure to fill up every day on 2-3 full stacks of food or water, depending on your class’s need.
• Skip Professions for Now – If you are speed leveling, skip professions for now. They are time consuming and can be completed much faster later when you get your mounts and speed upgrades.

To read from the beginning of this guide, go to World of Warcraft Hunter Guide (Part 1).

Choosing a Talent Tree

When you reach Level 10, you will need to start putting your talent points into whatever trees you’ve decided to level with. For the sake of leveling, you should start out boosting some basic Marksmanship talents, including Focused Aim and Lethal Shots. Additionally, when you have 5 points into Marksmanship, upgrade your Hunter’s Mark to Rank 3 to get the added boost and reduce your mana cost.

From there, you’ll find that leveling is best boosted by Beast Mastery skills so start pouring the rest of your talent points into that tree as soon as you can.

Once you reach Level 80, there are three distinct types of hunters you can play. The first, the Beast Mater is best suited for solo play in daily quests and the like. It can work well in raiding as well, but is very poor for PvP because most other players will ignore your pet.

The second tree is Marksmanship and is a good fit for anyone interested in playing in PvP or raiding because it boosts your DPS base line many times over and increases your ability to deal raw damage. If you want to be the most powerful man or woman in the room, this is the way to go.

Until recently, Survival was not often a great way to go for a Hunter, but recent upgrades have added increased stealth and nice boosts to the traps there to make Survival useful for leveling and highly effective for keeping a Hunter alive beyond all rational thought in a raiding party.

In the end, a Hunter always has high survivability and DPS, but it comes down to which direction you want to point them. This WoW Hunter guide recommends that you choose one of each for your two talent trees and switch back and forth as necessary.

Choosing a Pet

The other major thing to consider as a hunter is what pet you will use. Most players have a particular type of pet they prefer, but in general, it will come down to what kind of player you are. When leveling, this WoW Hunter guide recommends that you find a pet that will allow you to take a decent chunk of damage while holding agro so that you can attack from the back lines and not need to stop and heal later on.

In PvP, a good pet is one that will actually deal some form of damage. Most pets in PvP are not all that useful as they can be ignored, but even a small damage boost is nice. In Raiding, you want a pet that will help you maintain a low mana output by boosting your overall DPS but that can also stay alive in the fray.

For many players, the top pets are either cats, bears, or exotics. The cats are best for high output DPS and can hit for a decent chunk of damage nearly any time. Bears are high armor pets that can tank while you perform solo tasks and exotics all have unique capabilities that can only be obtained by Beast Masters with the 51 Point Skill – “Beast Mastery” that unlocks for Hunters in that tree.

For a well played hunter with careful attention to the various aspects of their class, the game is your oyster. Other players may mock Hunters for being noobs and an easily played class, but those who can master a Hunter successfully can become exceptionally successful in almost every part of the game – and best of all, it’s a lot of fun.

Some attribute its popularity to the fact that the class has so many different methods in which it can be played. Others like to point to the extreme survivability of the class and the huge DPS numbers it can put up in both PvP and raiding. In general though, the Hunter is just a very cool class to play and more over, a very easy class to play. Because it is so easy, many newcomers will start out with this class to get involved in the game.

A good World of Warcraft Hunter guide will show you exactly how to get started and how to take advantage of the different bonuses this class can offer to make it Level 80 and start dominating in end-game content. Here are a few introductory points to help you get accustomed to the class and what it has to offer.

Starting Out with a Hunter

When you start out with a hunter, you will find, as most World of Warcraft Hunter guides show you, that there are seven different races you can choose from for a Hunter including the Dwarf, Night Elf or Draenei for the Alliance and the Orc, Troll, Tauren, or Blood Elf for the Horde. For the Alliance, the Night Elf or Draenei are considered the best while Horde players will find that the Orc or Troll are best for this roll.

Once you have created a character, it is time to start playing them. Despite all those Hunters running around with pets that you’ve seen, a Hunter runs solo until they hit Level 10, which can mean a bit of a tough run through low level content. However, play it safe and don’t get too overzealous (you have no means of crowd control yet), and you should be okay until you get your pet.

The first thing you need to learn early on is how to manage your shot rotation. Later, when you gain a pet, you will want to start out every fight by attaching your Mark to the target and sending your pet out to tank against them. Let the pet build up a bit of agro on the mob and then you can start unleashing your shots.

The first shot should always be something big that can help boost your overall DPS. A serpent sting is good for this, as well as an aimed or steady shot. Don’t shoot too many high level shots due to Mana use, but keep a steady flow of DPS going to your target until they die.

Additionally, you will want to have the right aspect applied to your character. For all ranged DPS, have the Aspect of the Hawk up and running. If you are worried about your mana, use Aspect of the Viper and if you get stuck in close combat melee, put up your Aspect of the Monkey to boost your evasion skill.

Hunters will also come equipped with a variety of different tracking spells that make it easier to find various life forms as they move about the world around you. This can make many quests easier as you will always know what beasts and mobs are near you.

To find out more about hunting including choosing a pet, see Part 2 of this World of Warcraft Hunter Guide right here: WoW Hunter Guide.

For Part 1, see World of Warcraft Horde Guide.

WoW Horde Guide – The Taurens

The Tauren are led by High Chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof and are largely based out of Thunder Bluff in Mulgore where their capital is located. They are known as largely spiritual creatures and joined forces with the orcs to offer that guidance in exchange for military leadership.

Taurens can play as Death Knights, Druids, Hunters, Shamans, and Warriors. Their racial mount is a Kodo and they have the following traits:

• War Stomp – Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for a 2 second duration.
• Endurance – Base health increased by 5% for the length of the game.
• Cultivation – Boosts Herbalism skill by 15
• Nature Resistance – Reduces the chance you’ll be hit by nature spells by 2%.

WoW Horde Guide – The Forsaken

The forsaken, or undead, are lead by Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner and are based out of the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades. They are a group of undead warriors that have broken free of their hold by the Lich King and now have a truce with the Horde, the only group that will support them in their fight to destroy the still enslaved scourge.

Undead characters can play as Death Knights, Mages, Priests, Rogues, Warlocks, and Warriors. Their racial mount is a Skeletal Horse and they have the following traits:

• Will of the Forsaken – Removes any fear, sleep or charm effects instantly.
• Cannibalize – Regenerates 7% of total health every 2 seconds for 10 seconds when targeting a humanoid or undead corpse.
• Underwater Breathing – Makes this race last 233% longer underwater than any other race.
• Shadow Resistance – Cuts the chance of being hit by a shadow spell by 2%.

WoW Horde Guide – The Blood Elves

Added in the Burning Crusade expansion pack, the Blood Elves are led by Lor’themar Theron of Quel’Thalas and live in Silvermoon City in Eversong Woods. They are resultant of the high elves that were shunned because of their addiction to magic and because they were betrayed by the Alliance have turned to the Horde for help.

Blood Elves can play as Death Knights, Hunters, Mages, Paladins, Priests, Rogues, and Warlocks. Their racial mount is a Hawkstrider and they have the following traits:

• Arcane Torrent – This will silence all enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds and boost your 6% of your mana.
• Arcane Affinity – This will give you a 10 point skill boost to your enchanting skill.
• Magic Resistance – Reduces your chance to be hit by any spell by 2%.

For anyone interested in playing a Horde race, you can see that there are a number of different ways you can change and specialize your character type, regardless of class to have a great deal of fun on your way to Level 80. Keep in mind that most of the races are going to generally contain the same statistics upon starting. The biggest differences come out in appearance and how you would interact if you are an RP player or if you were interested in PvP, in which some key abilities can have a profound impact on how you play the game depending on who you choose (most notably the Tauren and Forsaken).

To start with, they aren’t all that bad. They’re just different from Humans and Dwarves and for many people that by default makes them bad. But the truth of the matter is that the Horde, which includes Orcs, Trolls, Forsaken Undead, Taurens, and Blood Elves is a bit of a mishmash of different races that have been left out, forgotten, or mistreated in some way. Sure, some of them are bad and a lot of them are violent, but they’re relatable and many times they’re quite likable.

This is what makes World of Warcraft such a unique game and so many players happy to take on the side of the Horde. They are a truly relatable set of characters with unique personalities and a whole lot of options when it comes to how you play them, both from a standard play mindset and from an RP mindset.

The Races of the Horde

This World of Warcraft Horde guide cannot possibly show you everything you need to know about the Horde, its motivations and its leaders, but it can give you a brief introduction to each race and what has brought them together to fight both the humans of the Alliance and the other vile people out there including the Scourge and the Lich King.

World of Warcraft Horde Guide – The Orcs

The Orcs are based out of Orgrimmar in Durotar and their leader is Thrall. They are formerly from Draenor or Outland and have expanded greatly there since the portal reopened. Their goal is to embrace their once shamanistic ways and to defeat the evil magic of the demons and scourge that have taken their lands. There are numerous orc clans in the game and a number of highly involved bits of lore tracing back to the first games in the series.

Orcs can play as Death Knights, Hunters, Rogues, Shamans, Warlocks, and Warriors. Their racial mount is a Wolf and they have the following racial traits:

• Blood Fury – Increases Attack Power for 15 Seconds
• Hardiness – Reduces the duration of all stun effects on them by 15%
• Command – Damage dealt by all pets increased by 5%
• Axe Specialization – Expertise with Axes and 2H Axes boosted by 5.

World of Warcraft Horde Guide – The Trolls

The trolls in World of Warcraft that are playable belong to the Darkspear Tribe, lead by Shadowhunter Vol’jin. They are originally from a small chain of islands located in the Great Sea and have since relocated to Sen’Jin Village in Durotar to rebuild. They share a capital with the orcs currently and are highly indebted to them for saving their tribe. There are a number of other trolls in the game that are not friendly to either faction and that extend the lore for this race quite a bit.

Trolls can play as Death Knights, Hunters, Mages, Priests, Rogues, Shamans, and Warriors. Their racial mount is a Raptor and they have the following traits:

• Berskerking – Increases attack and casting speed for 10 seconds.
• Regeneration – Increases health regeneration by 10% and works during combat.
• Beast Slaying – Adds a +5% damage boost against beasts.
• Throwing Weapon Specialization – Increases Throwing Weapon critical chance by 1%.
• Bow Specialization – Increases Bow critical chance by 1%.
• Da Voodoo Shuffle – Reduces the duration of movement impairing effects by 15%.

Level 150-225

Train as an Expert in Herbalism to start with and then travel to the Wetlands where you can farm on Briarthorn, Kingsblood, and Liferoot until you reach Level Level 175. Next, travel to Arathi Highlands and farm on Bruiseweed, Fadeleaf, Golthorn, Liferoot, and Khadgar’s Whiskers. You will also find that Swamp of Sorrows is good for Horde characters up to Level 200 or so and Tanaris is good for Firebloom and Purple Lotus up to Level 225.

Level 225-300

At Level 225, you need to train as an Artisan and then start farming for Goldthorn and Liferoot in Feralas until you reach Level 230. From there, you can snag Sungrass pretty much anywhere you look. Golden Sansam also becomes available in Feralas at this time – farm these until you reach level 275.

At Level 275, go to Un’Goro Crater or Azshara and start farming for Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, or Mountain Silversage to Level 285. At that level, go to the Plaguelands and start farming on Plaguebloom. One run of those zones for Plaguebloom should get you to Level 300 pretty quickly.

Level 300-375

Start out by traveling to Thrallmar or Honor Hold and training as a Master in Herbalism. Then start farming for Gromsblood and Dreamfoil back in Felwood until you reach Level 340. Return to Outland at that point and farm for Felweed in Hellfire Peninsula to reach Level 350. To finish reaching Level 375, either skip to Northrend or start farming on Dreamfoil, Felweed, Ancient Lichen, Dreaming Glory, and Terocone off the mobs in Zangarmarsh or in Terokkar Forest.

Level 375-450

Start by training as a Grand Master in your starting town in Northrend. Then start farming for Goldclover. This should get you up to Level 385 or so in Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. At level 385, travel to Zul’Drak and start picking Talandra’s Rose – you must be Level 75 to farm here though. Pick Tiger Lily as well in Borean Tundra or Grizzly Hills until you reach Level 415.

At Level 425, you should travel to the Storm Peaks or Sholazar Basin and start picking Lichbloom and Adder’s Tongue to reach Level 435, followed by Icethorn to reach Level 450.

Making Gold

The last thing to know about Herbalism is how to turn the profession into some cold hard cash. In many cases, it can be time consuming and problematic at best to guess what will transform into gold. However, if you carefully track the auction house and how the various herbs move, you can start to pick out which ones turn over better. Here is a list of herbs that tend to sell for higher than others. The best of the bunch are bolded:

•    Bruiseweed
•    Khadgar’s Whisker
•    Fadeleaf
•    Goldthorn
•    Sungrass
•    Blindweed
•    Ghost Mushroom
•    Gromsblood
•    Golden Sansam
•    Dreamfoil
•    Plaguebloom
•    Black Lotus
•    Ancient Lichen
•    Netherbloom
•    Goldclover
•    Tiger Lily
•    Talandra’s Rose
•    Adder’s Tongue
•    Lichbloom
•    Icethorn
•    Frost Lotus

If you focus on the herbs listed above more than any others, you will have a much easier time of flipping a profit on them on any given day. Most WoW herbalism guides will tell you to diversify your farming as well to avoid any overcrowded areas (the latter herbs in Northrend are tough, but early game herbs can be completely left alone at times).
