World of Warcraft Herbalism Guide

The second of the two more profitable gathering professions, Herbalism has gained quite a bit of following in the last year as the Inscription profession has greatly shifted how it is used and how much in demand it is on any given day. Whereas before this profession was only useful for Alchemists, it is now a primary means of farming for gold and a great way for both Inscriptionists and Alchemists to create gold for themselves without having to spend tons of gold buying the stuff up on the Auction House.

As any good World of Warcraft herbalism guide will demonstrate though, the profession is tough to level because of how random the spawn markers are for each herb and how many different herbs there are at each level. Someone at Level 145 for example might be able to pick any of 5 different herbs from more than a dozen zones – knowing which ones are best and will level you up the fastest will translate to bigger, faster paydays in the Auction House.

Leveling Herbalism

The process of leveling herbalism can be frantic without a little guidance, so this World of Warcraft herbalism guide has included a few details to help you along the way:

Level 1-75

When you start farming herbs early in the game, you can find Silverleaf and Peacebloom (the two level 1 herbs) in pretty much any part of any starting zone. However, for faster routes and better respawn times, the best zones to look in are Elwynn Forest and Teldrassil for Alliance and Mulgore, Durotar and Tirisfal Glades for the Horde. It will take about an hour or so to reach Level 75 by running around these areas.

Level 75-150

Start out by training as a Journeyman with your main trainer and then start farming on slightly higher level herbs. The best zone in the game for this is the Barrens, which is a bit tougher for Alliance characters to reach. Horde characters however can farm here up to Level 135 and then 150 with the southern edges.

For Alliance characters, start out in Westfall and farm on low level herbs up to 100, then travel to Redridge Mountains to farm on Bruiseweed until you reach level 115, followed by Stonetalon Mountains and Duskwood for Kingsblood or Wild Steelbloom until you reach Level 150.
