WoW Cooking Guide

This is part 2 of our WoW Cooking Guide. For part 1, check out World of Warcraft Cooking Guide.

Meats:

For those interested in leveling their cooking skill with meats instead of fish, you will need a few more recipes than you would for fishing. Here is a breakdown of the different recipes and materials you’ll need to make each recipe as you strive for 450.

Level 1-200

To get started, you will need to learn how to make Spice Bread, which requires Mind Spices and Simple Flour. This will get you up to Level 40 or so. After that, you can make Charred Wolf Meat from Stringy Wolf Meat to reach level 50. Here are the remaining recipes to reach Level 200. Remember at Level 75 and 150 to train as a Journeyman and an Expert in the craft:

Level 50-80 – Make Smoked Bear Meat using Bear Meat which can be found on most low level bears.
Level 80-110 – Make Boiled Clams with Clam Meat and Refreshing Spring Water. The Clam Meat can be found on clams along the coast of Desolace or any other coastal zone.
Level 110-150 – Make Clam Chowder from Clam Meat and Ice Cold Milk
Level 150-185 – Make Curiously Tasty Omelets with Raptor Eggs. Find Raptor eggs in Stranglethorn Vale or Arathi Basin.
Level 185 – 200 – Make Roast Raptor from Raptor Flesh. The Flesh drops from the same mobs as the eggs.

Level 200 – 300

For the next set of levels, you will need to travel to the higher level areas of Azeroth and farm things for yourself. Most of these meats are hard to find in the auction house because most players don’t farm for them much anymore. Remember to train as an Artisan when you reach Level 225.

Level 200-250 – Make Monster Omelets from Giant Eggs off of any Level 45-60 Bird.
Level 250-285 – Make Juicy Bear Burgers from Bear Flanks. Bear flanks drop from any high level bears in Felwood or Azshara.
Level 285 – 300 – Make Smoked Desert Dumplings from Sandworm Meat. The Sandworms can be found Dredge mobs in Silithus.

Level 300 – 350

To start out in Outland you need to train with your Master trainer who can be found in any of the different starting areas in Helfire Peninsula. After you get to that point, start farming for Ravager Flesh in Helfire Peninsula and Clefthoof Meat in Nagrand. These two meats will help you make both the recipes needed to reach Level 350 relatively quickly. They can also be found at the Auction House for good prices very often.

Level 300-330 – Make Ravage Dogs from Ravager Flesh
Level 330-350 – Make Roasted Clefthoof from Clefthoof Meat

Level 350 – 450

The final stretch for leveling cooking takes place in Northrend where you can start out by training as a Grand Master Cook with any of the four Cooking trainers located in the four starting camps for either faction. Once you have done that, you will need to decide which way to go. For the first recipe in this section, you will find that the Rhinos are easier for Alliance characters to find while shoveltusks are easier for Horde. At Level 425, you will need to start gathering Northrend Spices which are awarded for successful completion of your dailies. You will also need to do more dailies to get higher level recipes to finish up to Level 450:

Level 350-400 – Make Rhino Dogs or Shoveltusk steaks using the meat from either animal.
Level 400-425 – Make Great Feasts with Chunk O’Mammoth (1), Shoveltusk Flank (1), Worm Meat (1), and Chilled Meat (2). You can get chilled meat off of any mob in Northrend.
Level 425-445 – Make Critter Bites using Chilled Meat and Northrend Spices
Level 445-450 – Make Gigantic Feasts using Deep Sea Monsterbellies (2), Chunks’O’Mammoth (2), Rockfin Groupers (2), and Northern Spices.

Ultimately, the path to level 450 is a bit faster with fish, but may require a lot of fishing, so it is only recommended if you are leveling fishing up already. For those interested in cooking their way up to 450 with meat, the fastest route is going to be with the above strategy, using meat you can buy or farm for yourself. Most World of Warcraft cooking guides will recommend fishing though.
