You are reading Part 2 of our WoW Mining Guide covering Levels 250-450. To learn about Levels 1-250, please checkout out Part 1 of our World of Warcraft Mining Guide.
Level 250-300
To complete your leveling up to 300 before you head to Outland, you will want to start farming on Thorium veins which become available at Level 250. Additionally, you can find Dark Iron in zones like the Burning Steppes. For Thorium look for veins in Un’Goro Crater, the Plaguelands and Winterspring.
Level 300-325
At Level 300, you need to train as a Master miner and head to Outland where you can start farming for Fel Iron in Hellfire Peninsula. The zone is large and the ore is hard to find at times, but you will usually find plenty of it along the ridges in the south and in the path leading to the Ramparts.
Level 325-365
At Level 325, you can upgrade to Adamantite which you will continue to farm all the way up to Level 375. Adamantite is found throughout Outland, but is most abundant in Nagrand where you can find Fel Iron as well along with Rich Adamantite Veins.
Level 365-375
Before you reach Level 375, you can start farming for Khorium which will allow you to quickly reach Level 375. This rare ore shows up in the place of Rich Adamantite veins in Blade’s Edge Mountains and Nagrand. Alternately you can skip to the next section and start farming Cobalt ore in Northrend early.
Level 375-450
The final section of leveling is in Northrend, where you will start out by training as a Grand Master in your starting town. You can then start farming for Cobalt ore in Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra. The mountains of Howling Fjord are best for this, but Borean Tundra has plenty as well.
When you reach Level 400, head to Sholazar Basin and start farming on Saronite which is located all the way around the zone, as well as round the pillars in the middle of the zone (there are 6 of them). You should be able to reach 450 here alone, though you can also find Titanium nodes and Rich Saronite nodes in Icecrown Glacier and Storm Peaks.
WoW Mining Guide – Making Gold
Once you reach Level 450, the best ores to farm regularly are Titanium and any of the rare ores from earlier in the game. Titanium in particular is highly valuable because it is used for Titansteel and for prospecting epic gems. A stack of Titanium Ore can sell for up to 200 gold. You may find that you need to fight a bit for it though as there are a lot of people farming for it at any given time. Just continue your Saronite searching (Titanium appears on Saronite nodes) in Icecrown and Storm Peaks and you will find plenty.
Alternate routes with less crowding include heading to Azeroth and farming off of Silver and Truesilver, both ores used for low level enchants and leveling up professions like Engineering and Blacksmithing. You will find that these ores still sell for as much, if not more than many higher level ores in Northrend.
For anyone interested in mining, it is a quick and relatively painless grind to 450, followed by a number of great ways to make gold. As every good WoW mining guide will tell you – this is the best profession in the game.
